East Jakarta Mayor Drove Away Civil Servants Using Private Vehicles

Although Governor Instruction No. 150/2013 on the use of public transportation for Jakarta Provincial Government officials and employees has been running for five months, there are many civil servants (PNS) in East Jakarta Administration still recklessly use their personal vehicles on the first Friday of the month. As a result, East Jakarta Mayor, HR Krisdianto, guarded at the front gate of East Jakarta Administration office to drive away civil servants’ vehicles entering the office area.

This inspection only gives warning to civil servants who still use personal vehicles in the first Friday. We recorded their names and units, then we’ll report it to their bosses in order to be given written warnings

This sudden inspection involved 100 joint officers who consist of 30 Inside Security officers, 10 Transportation Sub-Department officers, 40 Satpol PP personnel, 20 Jakarta Supervision Inspectorate personnel, as well as from 4 personnel from staffing unit, 4 legal bureau officers, and 4 Ortala personnel. They were spread in three locations were many civil servants’ vehicles parked, namely in the mayor’s office parking lot, in front of PTUN and BPN offices, and in the parking area of Al-Azhar Mosque in front of the mayor’s office.

At the main gate, the officers checked the vehicles went into the mayor’s office are one by one and asked the drivers/passengers necessities of coming there. If the drivers/passengers were civil servants, they were requested to park their vehicles outside.

“This inspection only gives warning to civil servants who still use personal vehicles in the first Friday. We recorded their names and units, then we’ll report it to their bosses in order to be given written warnings. I think this reprimand would make them embarrassed and deterrent because the others do not bring vehicles,” uttered Krisdianto.

One of the civil servants caught using private vehicle to the office is Budi (27) who admitted forgot that today is first Friday. Due to bringing private vehicle, the officers stopped him and told him to park his vehicle outside East Jakarta Mayor office area.

“I thought today was not first Friday, that’s why I use my vehicle. Instead, I was stopped and prohibited to enter (East Jakarta Mayor office area). So, I had to look for parking lot outside,” he said.
